Weights, measures and conversions

Imperial to Metric fluid conversions

I prefer to use metric measures because they are always consistent.  The pints here are British pints (600ml) , not  American pints (16 fluid ounces).   Naming confusion can lead to a lot of messed up recipes.

Imperial Metric Cups
2 fl oz 50ml ¼ cup
2 ½ fl oz 75ml 1/3 cup
4 fl oz 120ml ½ cup
5 fl oz / ¼ pint 150ml 2/3 cup
6 fl oz 175ml ¾ cup
8 fl oz 250ml 1 cup
10 fl oz / ½ pint 300ml
12 fl oz 350ml
16 fl oz 475ml
20 fl oz / 1 pint 600ml
24 fl oz / 1 ¼ pints 750ml 3 cups
30 fl oz / 1 ½ pints 900ml
35 fl oz / 1 ¾ pints 1000ml 4 cups
40 fl oz / 2 pints 1200ml
Teaspoon / Tablespoon Measure Metric
¼ tsp 1.5ml
½ tsp 2.5ml
1 tsp 5ml
1 tbsp 15ml

The tablespoon (tbsp) measure here is a British/American tablespoon.  Australian tablespoons are 4 tsp (20ml).  Take note of this when following Australian recipes.  When possible, look for recipes using metric measures or weights.
